From the eight-day power reserve to the impressive guilloche dial, get ready to add some bold statement to your wrist with this Arnold & Son Eight-Day.
Why we love it
It's a brilliant timepiece that upholds Arnold & Son's stance as one of the most innovative watchmakers of our time. As with most models from the maison, design and mechanical ingenuity have been poured profusely into every element of this Eight-Day Blue. It's a watch with many talking points, however, a power reserve capacity of whopping eight days is certainly the lodestone here. Manual-winding calibre A&S1016 comprises two mainspring barrels that allow the watch to run autonomously for a staggering 192 hours. The movement comes designed meticulously with cotes de geneve pattern on the open-worked bridges, thermally blued screws, and jewels that are set in 18k white gold chatons, all visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.
Wearing conspicuously on the wrist with a 43 mm stainless steel case, the watch appeals instantly via its unique construction and polished finish. The bracelet shares the polished sheen of the case on its outer links, while the centre links are brushed. Another stunning feature of this Eight-Day is the blue dial. It has all the texture one can wish for thanks to the distinctive guilloche pattern that actually looks like sea waves'a fitting detail added to a timepiece inspired by the 18th-century marine chronometers created by John Arnold. In fact, the vertical configuration of seconds sub-dial at six and the power reserve indicator at noon is also drawn from the early marine chronometers. Overall, the entire layout of the dial is quite commanding and legible.
What you should know
Purchased in 2022, this Arnold & Son Eight-Day Blue 1.EDAS.U01C.S136D shows light scratches on the caseback, bracelet, and clasp. Yet, the overall condition is fairly good.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
