Why we love it
The watch's design draws inspiration from the marine chronometers created by John Arnold in the 18th century. The meticulously sculpted continents and hand-painted oceans on the dial evoke a sense of global exploration. The overarching arch, reminiscent of the English naval ships of the era, adds a touch of historical significance. This Globetrotter Gold, measuring at 45mm prominently features a world map dome in its centre, depicting the Northern Hemisphere. This globe is framed by a striking open-worked bridge crafted in red gold, which serves as a visual signature of the series. The bridge, adorned with a functional ruby that anchors the axis of universal time, is a homage to the intricate craftsmanship of Arnold’s original marine chronometers.
The watch’s dial is a study of detailed artistry and functionality. The continents are rhodium-plated with a polished finish, while the mountain ranges are presented with a matte texture. The oceans and the coastlines are hand-painted in blue lacquer with pearlescent powder, enhancing their depth and clarity. The intricate design is complemented by a domed sapphire crystal that allows for a clear view of the three-dimensional rotating globe.
This timepiece also features a self-winding in-house A&S6022 mechanical movement, visible through the open caseback and provides a 45-hour power reserve. The watch’s functionality is enhanced by a world time display and a 24-hour ring and the timepiece is completed with a blue alligator leather strap, hand-stitched to ensure durability and style.
This Arnold & Son Globetrotter Gold 1WTAR.U01C.C153A has light scratches on the case and caseback. The strap of the watch is in satisfactory form.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
