Offering equal pleasure to the eyes and the wrist, this Nebula Blue is a fitting expression of Arnold & Son’s extravagant watchmaking.
Why we love it
Arnold & Son has carved a unique space in haute horology with timepieces that are a far cry from conventional, understated, or straightforward. The maison’s world is defined by theatrical and extravagant watches that cast an esoteric presence on the wrist. With Nebula, this narrative rings true. It was first released in 2016 and refreshed for the third time in 2022 with this reference 1.NEAS.U01A.K002S. This addition was particularly notable for its new and unique design that sets it apart from all the previous models.
The case of this Nebula is crafted in steel, measuring 41.5mm, akin to the 2016 model. It carries a slim polished bezel attached with shapely lugs giving the watch a modern and assertive look. The skeletonised dial is where this reference stands out. It offers a solid view of the newly-added movement A&S5201 through an openwork design. For the first time within the collection, we find Nebula adorned in a stunning shade of blue that blankets the mainplate, barrels covers, and the flange around the dial. While this blue PVD treatment is a spectacle in its own right, it also elevated the look of the triangular bridges of the movement through a strong contrast. The conventional timekeeping details are attributed to the flange through index hour makers, while the hands are faceted.
The manual-wound calibre A&S5201 is also an expression of Nebula’s evolution; the older models were powered by A&S5101. Calibre A&S5201 is a beautifully assembled movement showing staggering symmetry. At the back, the maison’s expertly done “Rayons de la Gloire” guilloché on the mainplate can be marvelled, while the barrels are finely brushed in a sunray pattern. It has a beat rate of 21,600vph and offers 90 hours of power reserve.
Except for minor scuffs on the case and clasp, this Arnold & Son Nebula 41.5 Steel Blue 1.NEAS.U01A.K002S shows fair pre-owned condition.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
