Captivating and magical with a magnificent moon phase display! But this Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon is a lot more than just a pretty face.
Why we love it
When it comes to interpretations of the moon phase, Arnold & Son has really been swinging to the fences with its bold and gorgeous Perpetual Moon watch. It gives this romantic complication a pride of place on the dial, letting its life-like depiction and substantial size instantly grab attention. Occupying the entire upper half of the dial, the moon phase indicator is a gigantic 29mm window where a large, well-executed 11.2mm moon is planted alongside a constellation of stars.
But all this beauty doesn't come at the expense of functionality, and in this brilliant balance of style and substance lies the watch's highest strength. The working of the moon phase is extremely precise, with only a one-day deviation every 122 years. It is largely because the indicator is integrated into the calibre in lieu of a module just added to the movement; no lip service paid here! Arnold & Son further ensures that its patrons can seamlessly use the extraordinary moon phase function by allowing them to set it using an additional indicator at the back, on top of the movement. It shows the age of the moon on a graduating scale.
Even though the moon phase display runs point on it, the dial is more beautiful than the sum of its parts. This reference 1GLAS.U02A.C122S carries a blue dial. It is engraved with a wave pattern all over using the hand-made engine-turned process. Subsequently, translucent lacquer is applied to ensure a polished sheen throughout but without hiding the engravings in any way.
On the wrist, this Perpetual Moon looks good at 42mm in steel. Its polished finish complements the texture on the dial, while the slim bezel and short lugs cast a fine dress watch profile. The manual-winding calibre A&S1512, visible through the open caseback, promises a power reserve of approximately 90 hours and is finished impeccably with Geneva stripes, blued screws, and circular graining.
This Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 1GLAS.U02A.C122S shows light scuffs on the case and buckle. Please note its leather strap is in satisfactory form.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
