Arnold & Son Time Pyramid Tourbillon forwards a unique style of watchmaking with the linear construction of its movement, visible through both the front and the back.
Why we love it
A natural transition for the Arnold & Son Time Pyramid released in 2013 was its 2019 iteration—Time Pyramid Tourbillon. Introduced at Baselworld, the watch shares a similar look to its predecessor but comes graced with additional technical features, a few subtle design changes, and a new enhanced movement. It displays a sapphire crystal dial and case back, aiding an uninterrupted view of the movement that is distinctively designed in a vertical configuration with two mainspring barrels at the bottom of the dial and the tourbillon at noon, creating a pyramid.
This 18k rose gold model, ref. 1TPBR.T01A.C125A is 44.6mm in diameter, which is quite large but similar to the 2013 model. Another detail borrowed from the earlier version is the crown's placement at six between the lugs. The dial, fashioned in an openwork style, is a feast to the eyes. The off-centre minutes and hours subdial is set at the lower part of the dial with Roman numerals hour markers painted on a sapphire disc and is contoured by a rhodium-plated ring that displays minute dot markers. A set of blue skeleton hands helps read the time. Now, while the 2013 version had the seconds subdial placed beneath the hours and minutes one here, it is merged with the one-minute tourbillon at noon, featuring a 20-second scale on the outer rim. In addition, the serpentine hands indicating power reserve at three and nine o'clock in the original model have been replaced with simple skeleton hands on this reference. The two power reserve indicators accord to two mainspring barrels.
As mentioned before, the manually-wound calibre A&S8615 is constructed vertically with the gear train assembled between the tourbillon and barrels in a linear fashion. It promises 90 hours of power autonomy and beats a frequency of 21600 bph.
Finishing on this Arnold & Son Time Pyramid Tourbillon is also something to write home about. From the comprehensive polished finish on the case to the Côtes de Genève pattern and chamfered edges on the bridges and the satin finish on the mainplate, this watch is truly a piece of haute horlogerie.
This Arnold & Son watch, ref. 1TPBR.T01A.C125A is a limited edition piece in very good condition with minor scuffs on the bezel, case back, and clasp. Its brown leather strap is a little soiled.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
