This classic re-edition version is a beautiful toast to the iconic design sensibility and bold stance of the original Royal Oak Offshore.
Why we love it
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the original Royal Oak Offshore, Audemars Piguet introduced the Royal Oak Offshore Re-edition in 2018 at SIHH. Showcasing an inclination for classic details and silhouette, this reference 26237ST.OO.1000ST.01 coalesces elements of the original model and contemporary style to deliver a modern icon.
It is worth noting how Audemars Piguet has boldly eschewed any substantial evolution in design. Instead, the maison has confidently displayed the vintage form in all its glory, only with the addition of a few novel nuances. The 42mm cushion-shaped case is a conventional Royal Oak Offshore with vertical brushing, contrastingly polished bevels, and the same octagonal bezel elevated with eight hexagonal screws. Interestingly, it retains the rubberised crown and pushers found in the original version as opposed to the other recent models that come with ceramic pushers and crown. Also, unlike the other models, reference 26237ST.OO.1000ST.01 is kitted with a solid, engraved case back as was in the 1993's Royal Oak Offshore.
The dial similarly evokes a recognisable Offshore appeal. It conjures up the petite tapisserie pattern, in contrast to most contemporary versions that employ the mega tapisserie pattern. It is blue and carries a vertical tricompax layout with a date window at three o'clock. Another sweet nod to the old edition comes in the form of luminous white gold hour markers and hands, which are more annular than angular.
Among the few modifications implemented is the addition of automatic calibre 3126/3840. With a beat rate of 3Hz, a 22k gold rotor, and 50 hours of power reserve, this self-winding movement is highly reliable, elevating the functionality of this design marvel. Overall, there could not have been a better extension of this iconic line than this re-edition reference.
This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Re-edition 26237ST.OO.1000ST.01 is in mint condition.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
