If you prefer your sports watch to be a touch more elegant and super efficient (the watch comes with a flyback chronograph mechanism), then this Breguet Transatlantique Type XXI is the one for you.
Why we love it
Classic, elegant designs that are backed by an equally elevated mechanism have come to dominate Breguet’s wide-ranging selection of fine timepieces. And this is how most watch patrons identify with the house. But Breguet is more than a one trick pony, as demonstrated by the Type XX / Type XXI collection of robust tool watches. Introduced in the 1950s for the French naval air army, Type XX carries a quintessential pilot's watch aesthetic and a flyback chronograph movement highlighted evidently on the dial — Retour en Vol – flyback in French.
Attention to detail is one of the skills that Breguet excels in, and nowhere is it more conspicuous than on this Transatlantique Type XXI. This 42.5mm wide and 15mm thick case is crafted from stainless steel in a round shape featuring fluting on the case-bands. Bells and whistles that complete the case are a bidirectional rotating bezel, pump-style chronograph pushers, and a screw-down knurled crown.
As with the case, the dial, in addition to a bevvy of interesting complications, features the brand’s expert craftsmanship. From the sunken sub-counters and the texture on the 12-hour sub-dial at three o’clock to the faceted diamond hour markers that accompany Arabic numerals and the beautifully-formed seconds and minutes hands for the chronograph, each detail on the dial is truly exquisite. A trapezoidal date window calls dibs at six o’clock.
Inside the solid caseback of this Transatlantique Type XXI 3810ST/92/9ZU lies a Breguet calibre 582Q that ensures a power reserve of 48 hours.
This Breguet Transatlantique Type XXI comes with light scratches on the case, bezel, caseback, and clasp.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
