Light and wild, this Breitling Avenger Hurricane is a size monster, measuring a staggering 50mm, rendered in an ultralight Breitlight material.
Why we love it
With the plethora of watches released every year, the ability to inspire awe in a timepiece gets narrower. The Breitling Avenger Hurricane, however, evokes astonishment at once. While the layout and the overall aesthetic are familiar, the elements that garner interest are the case material and the watch's gigantic size. This Breitling is crafted in a proprietary material called Breitlight, which is basically a form of carbon polymer. It is lightweight and defined by a matte finish, giving the military-style Avenger an extra brawny look.
Secondly, the watch measures a whopping 50mm. Certainly a big case; however, the lightweight construction of the case and the practical pairing of the rubber strap make it a comfortable piece on the wrist. The Volcano black dial has impressive legibility. The chronograph counters are arranged horizontally. Each sub-dial is designed uniquely to add more impact and visual depth. All the hour markers and hands are coated with luminous material. Worth noting is the distinctive choice of hour markers in a 24-hour format instead of the typical 12-hour. Maintaining the dial's clean look, the date aperture is placed between four and five o'clock.
Powering this cool timepiece is in-house calibre B01, a self-winding mechanism neatly tucked inside the solid, engraved caseback. Oscillating at 28,800bph, the movement promises a power reserve of 70 hours.
This Breitling Avenger Hurricane XB1210E4/BE89 shows some minor nicks on the caseback and clasp. Its yellow rubber strap is robust and well-maintained.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
