One of the most popular pilot chronographs, and the one that has adorned the famous wrists of Miles Davis and Serge Gainsbourg - Breitling Navitimer.
Why we love it
In 1952, Breitling created its iconic Navitimer, a chronograph timepiece with a circular slide rule to measure flight time and perform other airborne calculations. The watch was a quick hit and garnered all-round admiration from professionals and seasoned collectors alike. Over the years, Navitimer has been adapted and modified into various forms, and each iteration pays homage to the original offering through subtle nods.
This Navitimer has a stainless steel case with a 42mm width, so it naturally casts a dominating wrist presence. The complications on the blue dial, including the chronograph sub-dials, date aperture, and the telemeter scale are facilitated by the Breitling Calibre 23. It's a self-winding movement with a beat rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.
Of course, the timepiece comes equipped with the slide rule on the bidirectional rotating bezel. With a fine polished finish, bevelled lugs, and a robust leather strap, this Navitimer is a handsome piece. We are sure it will look just as incredible as an everyday watch as it would in the air for which it was originally designed.
Please note there are light scratches on the case, case back, and clasp. However, the tan-hued leather strap securing this Breitling Navitimer is in good condition.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
