EvoTec, introduced in 2009, brought a new turn to conventional watchmaking with its innovative and pioneering calibre A1000. This revolutionary calibre put Carl F. Bucherer at the forefront of mechanical horology, having achieved a feat that had earlier been pursued unsuccessfully by big names, such as Patek Philippe and Citizen. CFB A1000 was the first mechanical movement to come with a peripheral winding rotor in lieu of a centrally mounted one. Subsequently, for the first time, an automatic movement could be seen in its entirety from the sapphire crystal caseback. One could appreciate the details, decorations, and arrangement of the movement without any hindrance created by a moving rotor. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, this movement assured high accuracy, shock resistance, and 55 hours of power reserve.

While the new calibre certainly was the highlight of the watch, EvoTec garnered high praise for its distinctive design as well. The unique cushion shape, 43.7mm in width with chamfered lugs, sat like a dress watch on the wrist. However, the black leather strap flaunted a sporty vibe. Hence, the combination of subtle and sporty made EvoTec a versatile timepiece that could be donned by patrons of varying tastes.
