What’s common between Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr, and Bill Clinton? They were all presidents of the United States, and have worn a Corum Coin watch!
Why we love it
Creations can be great, and creations can be iconic – Corum’s Heritage Coin watch belongs to the latter category. First introduced in 1964, this watch is set in a historic American 20 Dollar Double Eagle gold coin with the seal of Liberty on the back. Indeed, it is crafted by splitting the coin into half and housing an ultra-thin movement inside. It uses the coin’s head as the dial, while the tail is remodelled into a caseback. Not only does it represents the brand’s brilliant craftsmanship and ingenuity, but its superior watchmaking capabilities. Although discontinued and reintroduced a couple of times, the Coin watch has always been an indispensable part of Corum’s watch cannon.
Here we have reference 082.645.56.0001.MU52, featuring the customary American Double Eagle 22k gold coin in all its glory — as the dial. The original coin has been used undisturbed save for the addition of two black baton hands at the centre. Similarly, in the pursuit of retaining the coin's original state, the house cleverly added the logo on the inside of the anti-reflective sapphire crystal in lieu of the dial. From the diamond-punctuated crown to the 18k gold caseback engraved with the seal of liberty, attention to detail is manifested beautifully throughout the timepiece.
Driving this Corum Coin watch is the automatic calibre CO 082 that ensures accurate timekeeping as well as 42 hours of power reserve. Such is the appeal of this historical piece that, from many American presidents to great artists and celebrities, have adorned their wrists with its everlasting charm.
Please note there are multiple light marks and scratches on the case, caseback, lugs, and buckle of this Corum Coin watch. The leather strap is firm and sturdy.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
