One of the first timepieces to display the hour markers not on the dial but the bezel. This Corum Romulus delivers elegance, charm, and the house's excellent craftsmanship in spades.
Why we love it
Corum is a brand known for its uncompromising pursuit of excellence that is conspicuous in every timepiece it has produced over the past 67 years. Subsequently, significant hallmarks of the house are its intricate finishing and unparalleled craftsmanship. Corum watches thereby carry a sense of timelessness and elegance that transcend trends.
A perfect example of the aforesaid is this Corum Romulus introduced in 1966. Inspired by Roman culture and history, Romulus was one of the first timepieces to have the hour markers outside the dial, on the bezel. A similar-looking design was later introduced in the iconic BVLGARI BVLGARI watch fashioned by the genius Gerald Genta. Romulus is a timepiece defined by its form, which is distinctive and charming. From the expertly-shaped case to the dial, no effort has been spared in the execution of this sophisticated dress watch. However, the rose gold bezel underscoring the Roman numeral markers comes across as the most prominent feature of the overall design. Its presence results in a luxurious and timeless watch on the wrist.
A streamlined approach and legibility characterise this Romulus's dial. One would find more rose gold accents on the markers as well as the hands, which helps in tying the overall look together. Providing a base to the vertically ribbed pattern is a backdrop of complementing white. The colour blends with the aesthetics exceptionally well. On the front face sits an extremely practical and helpful complication - the big date window. At six is a running seconds counter.
Powered by an automatic movement, this Corum Romulus is the timepiece to hold on to if you fancy something more straightforward and toned down than the Admiral or Golden Bridge.
Please note this Corum Romulus 812.515.24/F221 BN76 comes with a soiled leather strap and shows some noticeable scratches on the bezel.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
