For the decadent globetrotters, this 1996 WW.TC by Girard-Perregaux brings many watch fantasies alive. Distinctive style? Check. Reliable mechanism? Check. Ease of use? Check.
Why we love it
The 1966 WW.TC is a charming, simple world timer that brings an elegant sensibility to a style that's typically complicated. A far cry from the 2000s WW.TC range that was more sporty, this 49860D-11A761-BK7A says quite boldly that it belongs to the 1966 collection. Rife with signature elements, such as the round case and leaf-like hands on the dial, this reference also carries umpteen features that make it singular in its own right. We can start with the bezel - beautifully wreathed with shimmery diamonds, serving as a perfect prologue to the magnificence of the mother-of-pearl dial.
On the dial, a rotatable disc featuring 23 time zones sits at the perimeter, followed by a 24-hour ring in two tones for day and night indication. The mother-of-pearl centre accommodates diamond hour indexes, stylised Arabic numerals at 12, three, and six, a running-seconds counter at nine, and a power reserve indicator parallel to the four and five o’clock positions.
Apart from the beguiling construction and decoration, the other thing that makes this world timer so covetable is how easily it can be operated. One can set the local time conventionally using the crown at three o'clock. Then rotate the city disc using the crown at nine until the home city corresponds with the local time on the 24-hour ring. That's it! From there on, the 24-hour ring moves along with the local time to ensure all time zones are in coordination.
Inside the 41mm stainless steel case of this 1966 WW.TC is the automatic calibre GP033G0, visible through the exhibition caseback. It ensures a power reserve of 46 hours.
This beautiful Girard-Perregaux 1966 WW.TC 49860D-11A761-BK7A is in very good condition with no scratches on the case. However, the white leather strap is a bit soiled.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
