Girard-Perregaux's tour de force - Laureato Absolute - gains a bold and dazzling look courtesy of a new, innovative material.
Why we love it
Material innovation is not just a buzzword that's been doing rounds in the watch industry but is an element of modern watchmaking that is slowly taking centre stage in many narratives. Most of the efforts are steered towards sustainability and elevating a watch's durability to deliver the promise of uncompromised craftsmanship. The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Rock may be one of the best examples of the latter. With all its iconic design and innate elegance, the feature that makes the most statement here is the new innovative material - carbon glass. It's a highly resilient, lightweight material made from a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass. The process of manufacturing this material involves the injection of glass fibres into carbon, resulting in a unique, smooth pattern that gives each model a distinguishing look.
This Absolute Rock carries the signature Laureato profile with an octagonal bezel and is kitted with a black dial. The dial brings chronograph counters in a horizontal configuration, a date window between four and five o'clock, luminous indexes, and baton-style hands. The movement inside is GP03300, a self-winding mechanical movement beating at 28,800bph and offering 46 hours of power reserve.
What you should know

Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
