This Streamliner Tourbillon Vantablack is Moser yet again nailing haute horlogerie. From the construction to the dial design and the mechanics within, this watch exudes nothing but watchmaking brilliance.
Why we love it
Creating aesthetical wonders with high mechanical ingenuity is a point of pride for H. Moser & Cie. And no timepiece manifests this notion better than the 2022-released Streamliner Tourbillon Vantablack. The gorgeous, fluid and almost sensuous construction in red gold is met with the brilliance of the Vantablack dial and the one-minute double-hairspring flying tourbillon to deliver a watch that is pure watchmaking genius.
H. Moser & Cie’s Streamliner came down the pike in 2020 as maison’s interpretation of the luxury sport watch. However, even with the characteristic integrated bracelet and an angular cushion case, the watch was sui generis, exuding a sense of minimalism that’s otherwise rare. Also, the introductory Streamliner model was not a simple time-only watch but a beautifully complex split-second chronograph. Therefore, it was only natural for the house to up the scale with subsequent iterations, and it finally produced an undisputed masterpiece – the mesmerising Streamliner Tourbillon Vantablack.
VANTA in Vantablack stands for ‘vertically aligned nanotube arrays,’ which is one of the darkest substances on earth. It absorbs 99.965% of visible light, creating the blackest black. Therefore, the use of Vantablack makes the dial an expanse of nothingness. It is infinitely black and serves as a charming counterpoint to the lush gold case and bracelet. Further, the gold indexes and the luminous hands break the hypnotic aura of the dial and give it character. But the real charmer there is the tourbillon at six o’clock, placed to ensure that this Streamliner is not taken as just an exemplar of Moser’s unparalleled design but technical virtuosity as well. This double-hairspring flying tourbillon rotates once each minute, offering increased accuracy by reducing all positional errors.
The automatic calibre HMC 804 is developed in-house by Moser's sister company, Precision Engineering AG. It beats at a frequency of 21,600bph, offers a 72-hour power reserve, and is kitted with a solid 18k gold oscillating weight visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.
The case at 40mm settles most effortlessly on the wrist, also thanks to the curvy and flexible bracelet. The finish and the engraved details on the caseback, crown and clasp sing praises of Moser’s attention to detail.
Even with minor scratches on the caseback, bracelet, and clasp, this H. Moser & Cie Streamliner Tourbillon Vantablack promises excellent pre-owned condition.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
