Bold yet sophisticated, this timepiece from Hublot's flagship collection - Big Bang - sparks as much intrigue as it does conversations.
Why we love it
Delivering watchmaking extravagance with bold sophistication, the Big Bang, as the brand puts it, is the flagship model of the house. First released in 2005, Big Bang's success stems from its powerful and utterly unique case - a design that has since inspired many timepieces. Over the years, this tour de force has achieved so many technical feats that today, it has moved beyond its dominating aesthetics. But, watch enthusiasts all over the world have not. Big Bang's simple, original form is as coveted as its dramatic, exposing haute horlogerie iterations. And this brings us to this reference 301.SB.131.RX here.
This Big Bang Original is a substantial timepiece, measuring a whopping 44mm in diameter. However, it carries its heft well and settles comfortably on the wrist via the shapely lugs. In addition, the finish is enriching to go over, with smooth polished as well as brushed finishing across the stainless steel surface. The black ceramic bezel carries the signature titanium screws. Such contrasting finishes and textures on the case hammer home Hublot's art of fusion. Conforming to the neat, subtle aesthetics, the crown and the pushers are not only ergonomic but very well designed.
The dial flaunts a carbon effect underpinning the watch's bold personality. A contrasting tinge of red on the centre seconds hand is similarly intriguing. On the functional front, the chronograph sub-dials are arranged in a horizontal configuration, the date window calls dibs between four and five o'clock, and both indexes and hands are luminous.
The watch is powered by a self-winding calibre HUB 4100, which can be adored through the sapphire crystal case back. The movement is also finished par to the house standards and features a well-designed skeletonised rotor. It comes with a running autonomy of 42 hours.
The Hublot Big Bang Original 301.SB.131.RX exhibits scratches on the case, caseback, and clasp. The strap, however, remains in good condition.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
