The darling Portugieser flaunts a sense of elegance and charm, underscored by practical details and a reliable mechanism.
Why we love it
The Portugieser has long been a fan favourite model in the IWC repertoire. Elegant and versatile, it was first developed in 1939 and is loved for its clean execution and legibility offered time and again with a soupcon of freshness.
This Portugieser reference IW371480, with its streamlined dial and a well-built gold case, is a handsome and quite wearable timepiece. Its slender bezel, round shape, balanced 40.9mm size, and understated appeal lend a perfect combination of style and substance. The dial ensures high functionality with neatly-applied Arabic numeral hour markers, complementing leaf-like hands, and chronograph sub-dials in a vertical configuration. Housed inside the closed caseback is a self-winding mechanical movement that powers this watch.
Overall, this IWC watch with a relatively small diameter offers endless versatility. It looks charming and proportioned on the wrist. Additionally, its refined mien allows the wearer to effortlessly flaunt it to work and beyond.
Please note this IWC Portugieser Chronograph IW371480 bears some noticeable scratches on the sapphire crystal glass. Also, the leather strap is slightly soiled.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
