The most amazing feature of this IWC Pilot’s Spitfire? Definitely the not-so-common split-seconds or rattrapante complication.
Why we love it
For those who admire IWC for its precise tool watches, especially the pilot ones, this Spitfire offers an impressive combination of the maison’s signature aesthetics and its contemporary watchmaking art. This Ref. IW371806 is automatic, 44mm wide with a round stainless steel case, 17.1mm thick, and 60 metres water resistant. A brushed finish is found throughout the case except for the polished bevelled edges. In a similar vein, the dial carries a contrast of textures featuring a brushed sunburst finish on the centre panel which is a bit stepped up compared to the outer hour track which is ribbed. The Arabic numerals are applied meticulously and are luminous akin to the well-shaped hands. The sub-registers are also contrasting in hues, set up in a vertical configuration as the day and date aperture occupies the three o’clock position.
This reference is equipped with a split-seconds mechanism or the rattrapante complication and comes with an additional red-hued chronograph hand. The complicated double chronograph function is made possible with the highly-precise IWC calibre 79230. It is based on the celebrated ETA 7750 with a 21600 bph frequency and a 44-hour power reserve. The brown leather strap pairs well with the case and settles most effortlessly on the wrist.
What you should know
This IWC Pilot’s Spitfire Double Chronograph IW371806 is in overall very good pre-owned condition with minor scuffs on the case back. The brown leather strap is also in optimum condition.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
