A simple chronograph sports watch looks this complex and compelling when it comes from the magic-oozing workshop of Jacob & Co.
Why we love it
The first Epic X watch was presented by Jacob & Co. in 2015, and it set itself apart from the rest of the watches by the brand in the sense that it wasn't that wild, if you can believe it. One familiar with Jacob & Co. knows its outrageous and esoteric approach towards watchmaking and its timepieces that are always armoured with high complications and a wealth of details. Therefore, the launch of Epic X came across as Jacob & Co.'s attempt at subtlety. But with one look at the watch, you know this is no subtle timepiece but a bold, singular, and intricate piece of watchmaking that draws attention instantly.
The complexity and extravagance one expects from Jacob & Co. are expressed on this Epic X Chrono through a unique case construction. The white ceramic case, 44mm wide and 12.3mm thick, is juxtaposed with bright blue and carries the signature X-shaped lugs that appear to have emerged from the grey detailing on the bezel. 200m water-resistant, the case carries the crown and chronograph pushers on the right.
The openwork dials of the Epic X watches have always garnered admiration for their unique disposition and discreet transparency. Here, the skeleton dial stylishly gives a tasteful peek of the mechanism running the timepeice. The self-winding movement JCAA05, a high-precision semi-skeleton column-wheel chronograph calibre with 260 components and 27 jewels. One can see the balance wheel at the top left, while the open barrel is conspicuous at the bottom. The caseback is also transparent and shows the high-end finishing on the bridges and the anthracite rotor with the brand name engravings. The movement promises 48 hours of power autonomy.
This Jacob & Co. Epic X Chrono EC430.20.AB.AA.ABRUA is in mint condition and has never been worn before.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
