Unlike most Jacob & Co. watches, this Palatial Classic Big Date has a calm and elegant tone. Rather than giving a barrage of details and complex elements, it offers clean aesthetics, legibility, and pure mechanics.
Why we love it
Jacob & Co.'s approach to design took a soft turn with the Palatial Classic collection. Nevertheless, as a house known for its haute horlogerie creations, the brand has managed to implement that avant-garde aesthetic into Palatial Classic pieces as well. The collection offers straightforward yet statement-making timepieces inspired by the Art Deco era. The line includes two elegant series of automatic and manual winding timepieces.
Here we have the manual-winding Palatial Classic Big Date. It follows the brand ethos of intricately-designed dials that command attention. A charming guilloche pattern rendered in a soothing grey shade makes up the dial of this watch. Fine circular graining is spread on the two sub-registers, contoured by metal rings. The sub-dial at nine bears the brand signature, while the one at six profiles a power reserve indicator. These counters intersect an inner metal minute track that adds an overall structure and balance to the design. The big game on this dial is the large date complication nestled at noon for added functionality. Polished dauphine hands pick out the tapered hour markers that elegantly punctuate the dial.
This reference, rendered in stainless steel, is a true definition of sophisticated luxury. The 42mm round case is in a high polish and comes integrated with shapely lugs and a signed crown on the side. Complementing the dial, this Palatial Classic is paired with a black leather strap. Hand-wound in-house calibre JCCM01 sits inside the solid case back and is a 4Hz movement with 50 hours of running autonomy.
This Jacob & Co. Palatial Classic Big Date is in very good pre-owned condition with scuffs on the case, caseback, and buckle. The leather strap is firm and sturdy.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
