Effortlessly blending a timeless sensibility with fine watchmaking, Reverso Tribute Nonantième is an instant classic that’s well worth your attention.
Why we love it
Reverso Tribute Nonantième was released as an avant-garde expression of the horological icon—Reverso—on its 90th birthday in 2021. With the addition of a one-of-a-kind complication, the brand infused an even greater sense of savoir faire and luxury into its finest timepiece. Nonantième is versatile, elegant, innovative, and finished impeccably, commanding unwavering attention.
It measures 49.4mm x 29.9mm and is cast in 18k pink gold with the signature gadroons. The front silver dial with a sunray brushed finish carries a wonderful depth. Complementing the case, the hour indexes, hands, and other metal details are rendered in gold. The date is indicated on double aperture at 12 o’clock, whereas the moon phase is displayed on the small seconds sub-dial at six. Despite the presence of complications, the dial is extremely balanced.
Once you flip the swivelling case, a solid vista mystifies with two complications that are expressed in the most surprising yet imaginative forms. Conceived in the shape of the numeral eight guarded by encircling gadroons (similar to the rectilinear ones on the case) are placed a semi-jumping digital hour indication on the top, followed by a day-night indicator and a minutes aperture—each displayed in a unique format. The digital jumping hour indication is introduced for the time within the Reverso collection, reminiscing the digital wristwatches produced by the maison during the 1930s. The minute appears on a rotating disc, partially hidden by a three-quarter plate which carries a vivid lacquered blue background. This surface is further sprinkled with handcrafted stars along with applied sun and moon. In a small circular sector, the sun and the moon appear to indicate night and day. In addition to all of these details, the brand also manages to eloquently add its logo without disturbing the harmony of the design.
Driving all these impressive complications is the newly developed manually wound movement, calibre 826. A total of 230 components are assembled meticulously for the high-precision, accurate functioning of the watch. It also provides a power reserve of 42 hours.
Purchased in 2022, this Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Nonantième comes from a limited edition of 190 pieces. While its leather strap shows good form, the case, caseback, and clasp bear light scuffs.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
