Disruptive, enigmatic, and bold. We expect nothing less from the maven, Konstantin Chaykin. How brilliantly has he transformed Louis Erard's celebrated regulator into this adorable monster!
Why we love it
The audacious Russian inventor and watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin took the classic regulator model of Louis Erard as a canvas upon which he let his eccentric imagination run wild, bringing a never-seen-before design to the wrist. Drawing evil inspiration from Slavic folklore and American horror, the Excellence Le Regulateur was introduced in 2023 and had a seismic impact on the world of horology. The two inaugural iterations were off the rack in no time, driving collectors crazy worldwide. As a result, the watches were auctioned and sold for five times their original price at the Geneva Watch Days.
Those familiar with Chaykin's watchmaking know his fascination with highly animated dials that are informed by a rather anthropomorphic approach. Yet, it won't be wrong to say that the Louis Erard Le Regulateur is exceptionally singular and casts a mind-blowing effect on its wearer. The dial is a monster called Time Eater whose wandering eye rotates around the sub-dial at 12, marking the hours most sinisterly. The monster's sharp rotating teeth indicate running second in a sub-register at six o'clock. Finally, the monster's long, evil hands show the minutes on a green-coloured flange at the dial's periphery.
We love the quirky details on the dial that work to make the watch most pleasing and irresistible, like the wavy pattern all over, the pop of red and green hues, and the clean visage. This zinger of a dial is housed safely inside the 42mm stainless steel case. The watch uses Sellita SW266-1 automatic movement that beats at a rate of 28,800bph and offers a 38-hour power reserve.
Purchased in 2023, this Le Regulateur Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin 85237AA88.BGA088 is in very good pre-owned condition and comes with a sturdy leather strap.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
