Nominated for the prestigious GPHG awards in 2018, this Louis Moinet Tempograph Chrome comes with a unique complication - the 20-second retrograde - showcasing the beauty of mechanical watchmaking in motion.
Why we love it
One of the most exciting releases of 2018 came from the heritage watch brand Louis Moinet, which introduced an enhanced iteration of the 2014-released 20-Second Tempograph, called the Tempograph Chrome. The most conspicuous change added to this model was the use of colours on the skeleton dial. This reference LM-50.10.20 came with a bright blue - the Moinet Blue - shade enveloping the bridges and the inner flange on the skeleton dial. The watch looks like a piece of art, and the maison's artistic genius shines through via the Clous de Paris pattern that adorns the outer flange and the off-centre dial at four o'clock.
This watch is the first Louis Moinet Tempograph in a stainless steel case, with a design inspired by timepieces in the maison's Memoris collection. 44mm wide, the case is composed of 52 pieces and has been meticulously reworked to house the exceptional self-winding calibre LM50. This movement, gloriously displayed on the dial, administers a unique complication - the 20-second retrograde. Although the function is your regular seconds, the manner of presentation is utterly novel. Sitting next to the 12 o'clock Louis Moinet insignia is a retrograde aperture indicating the seconds. The hand on the aperture returns to zero every 20 seconds, creating a beguiling visual of mechanical beauty. In addition, a tricolour disc at nine o'clock measures 60 seconds, segmented into three 20-second intervals.
Details on this Louis Moinet Tempograph Chrome are highly praiseworthy. From the dewdrop hands and the signature screws on the case to the brilliant use of colours and the well-decorated movement - visible through the caseback - all culminate to making this timepiece a mechanical and creative marvel. The watch was nominated for the prestigious Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG) awards 2018 under the men's complications category.
This Louis Moinet Tempograph Chrome comes from a limited edition series of 60 watches. It shows very good condition with no scratches on the case and a firm leather strap.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
