This harmonious Nomos Metro is an ode to refined style and German minimalism.
Why we love it
The Nomos Metro 38, introduced in 2015, is modelled closely after the original Metro. The case diameter of this version is slightly inflated, with just 7.8mm thickness. Add to that its slender lugs and shapely crown, and the watch can easily stand at the fore of your everyday watch collection.
Where things are different from the original model and honestly look more streamlined is the dial. The power reserve indicator has been eliminated, resulting in the appropriate shift of the brand signature from nine to 12 o’clock. It adds a bit of flair to the design; and also perhaps elevates the overall look of the watch. Another new subtle change can be witnessed on the painted dots at three, nine and noon. They are hued in baby blue as opposed to the earlier sea-foam green colour. The rest of the details — minute markers, the seconds sub-dial, and the date window remains the same.
And finally, the movement. We still get the patented "Swing-System" escapement with mostly the same movement design but in an elevated hand-wound calibre DUW 4101 that promises a power reserve of 42 hours. The beautiful finish and polishing on the movement can be admired from the sapphire crystal case back.
While the stainless steel case of this Nomos Glashutte is well-maintained, the leather strap is old and shows signs of wear.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
