Omega carries a rich legacy of the iconic Speedmaster, here taken forward with a highly enhanced movement and details that'll take your breath away.
Why we love it
Omega gave their iconic Speedmaster a refreshing boost with this 2016 rendition, and we have to admit the watch simply looks great. In addition to the admirable moon phase design, this timepiece has two new additions that even the most rigid watch snob will take a shine to. Foremost, it is the first Speedmaster to be certified as a Master Chronometer by METAS owing to the addition of the new automatic calibre 9904. This high-performance movement is resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss, has a silicon balance spring, and two barrels that generate a staggering 60 hours of power reserve. Although this timepiece is not the first Omega to be certified by METAS, it certainly is the first of the Speedmaster series.
The second new feature is the moon phase indication at six o'clock on the dial. Again, the mere presence of the indicator is not new; however, the aesthetic and detailing are novel and charming. It features a high-resolution image of the moon in lieu of the commonly used graphic one. This image comes with a discreet reproduction of Buzz Aldrin's footprint at the Sea of Tranquillity location, the spot where the Eagle lander alighted. How cool is that?
The functionality on offer is also something to write home about. The combination of date and running seconds on the nine o'clock counter, the chronograph register at three, the moon phase, and the tachymeter on the bezel ensure elevated practicality. The watch is constructed using stainless steel, featuring a 44.25mm case and a brushed bracelet.
This Omega Speedmaster Moonphase comes in mint condition.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
