Omega adds another stellar timepiece to the iconic Speedmaster line. Taking the legacy of Dark Side of the Moon forward, this Sedna Black is watchmaking brilliance at its best.
Why we love it
With its beguiling mix of stealth and substance and the Co-Axial calibre 9300, Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon was an instant icon when released in 2013. A classic chronograph, Dark Side of the Moon became the first Omega watch to be rendered completely in ceramic, exuding a bold elegance that's dressy enough for work and statement enough for soirees. In 2015, Omega launched four new versions of the watch, each with a distinctive and stunning dial design. One among them was this reference 311.63.44.51.06.001, called Sedna Black.
Housed in a 44.25mm black ceramic case, the watch's stealthy profile is offset by touches of Sedna™ gold on the bezel and dial, which the brand claims to have been inspired mystical nightlight of the Earth. With such beguiling contrast, the stark black brushed case, and the depth of the dial, this watch is brilliant on the aesthetics front and looks even more profound on the wrist.
The dial is a matt grey with marks created using laser ablation. It carries applied gold indexes and hands that are luminous. Additionally, the tone-on-tone sub-dials are placed at three and nine o'clock, while the date window sits at six. Also, the gold bezel houses a matte ceramic ring engraved with a matte chromium nitride tachymeter scale.
The automatic movement powering this handsome watch functions with a column wheel mechanism; has a silicon balance spring and promises a 60-hour power reserve.
This Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Sedna Black 311.63.44.51.06.001 shows light marks on the sapphire crystal glass, caseback, and clasp. Also, the leather strap is slightly soiled.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
