Omega has always retained the Speedmaster design language through various versions. But, when it did decide to modernise, it did it most spectacularly with this Chronoscope.
Why we love it
The Speedmaster is the linchpin of Omega's vast and varied repertoire, and the house never shies from creating new and interesting versions of this iconic timepiece. The most stunning example of this is the Speedmaster Chronoscope. It's a distinctive and complicated watch that manifests not just the maison's technical prowess but design genius as well. It brings a bevvy of complications through time scales on the dial, creating a design that sparks intrigue.
The 43mm stainless steel case is endowed with a blue tachymeter bezel that contours the silver dial where the real magic happens. A unique spiral-patterned panel on the dial is home to clean, blue Arabic numeral markers. This panel plays perimeter to three unique time scales, fashioned in a 1940's snail design. Also marked in blue, these scales include a telemeter, a pulsometer, and a tachymeter - in order of outer to the inner ring. Now, if you thought that the innovation ended here, you are wrong. While the watch carries the running seconds counter at nine, Omega has combined the 60-minute and 12-hour chronograph functions in a single register at three, indicated by two petite blue hands. These subdials overlap the time scales at the centre of the dial to generate a sense of complexity without forgoing legibility. The dial, on the whole, is cohesive and hammers home Omega's unparalleled design intellect.
At the heart of this watch beats Omega's Chronometer calibre 9908. With a silicon balance spring, two barrels, and a column wheel chronograph mechanism, this manual-winding calibre is as impressive as the watch's front face.
This Omega Speedmaster Chronoscape shows pristine condition with no scratches or signs of use.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
