With a clean, elemental look and a bright blue colourway, this limited edition Speedmaster celebrates the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and honours the sporting spirit of the maison.
Why we love it
In the wake of the 2020 Olympic Games held in Tokyo, Omega – the event’s official timekeeper—introduced a new crop of Speedmasters. The maison updated its linchpin model in five colours of the Olympic flag, resulting in a fresh and striking look.
One of the five timepieces, this reference 522.30.42.30.03.001 brings the signature Speedmaster design trope with an asymmetrical 42mm stainless steel case, a tachymeter bezel, and a complementing bracelet. It flaunts a bright blue dial with horizontally-placed contrasting silver sub-dials, creating a pleasing blue panda-style configuration. The tastefully added bell and whistles include the luminous hour markers and hands, a striking red-hued Speedmaster text, and a red-tipped seconds hand, which, against the blue backdrop, results in a pleasing aesthetic.
Inside is the hand-wound calibre 1861, beating away at 21,600bph. The movement provides a power reserve of 48 hours and is safe under the solid steel caseback, bearing special engraving to commemorate the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
This Omega Speedmaster Tokyo 2020 Olympics is limited to 2,020 pieces. It is in overall excellent pre-owned condition with light scuffs on the case, caseback, and bracelet.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
