Honouring Lunar Legacy and Olympic Spirit: The Speedmaster Tokyo 2020 – Precision in Every Moment.
Why we love it
The Speedmaster's claim to fame came in 1965 when it became the first watch worn on the Moon. This historic event catapulted the Speedmaster to international acclaim, and it has remained a coveted timepiece ever since. To commemorate Japan's second hosting of the Summer Olympics, Omega released a special collection of Speedmaster Professionals. Inspired by the five colours of the Olympic rings, each watch featured a unique dial and bezel design.
The Speedmaster Tokyo 2020 collection is rooted in the classic Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch design, characterised by its 42mm stainless steel case, tachymetric blue bezel, and manual-winding calibre 1861 movement. This movement noted for its precision and reliability features a 48-hour power reserve. This timepiece is the blue ring model from the collection with limited to 2020 pieces, enhancing its exclusivity. Distinct from the regular Speedmaster Moonwatch, this watch features a solid steel caseback embossed with the Tokyo 2020 logo, rather than the usual sapphire crystal backs. This change highlights the collection's association with the Tokyo Games.
The design elements of this 522.30.42.30.03.001 include elongated applied indices, silver chronograph counters, and a red-tipped seconds hand setting it apart from previous editions. As the official timekeeper of the games, the Speedmaster continues to play a vital role in measuring the moments that define athletic greatness.
This Omega Speedmaster Tokyo 2020 Edition 522.30.42.30.03.001 has light scratches on the caseback and the clasp of the watch. There are scuffs on the bracelet as well.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
