There's so much to enjoy about this Panerai Luminor Marina; where do we start? The staggering 10-day power reserve, the bold cushion-shaped case, or the practical GMT complication?
Why we love it
When you think of watches from Panerai, Luminor is certainly the timepiece that comes to mind. And it does make sense, considering Luminor is primed with an unmistakable classic appeal and simple form. Among the many charming versions of the watch available, this Marina 1950 10 Days GMT watch reference PAM00270 certainly takes things a notch higher.
By no means a small watch, this Luminor measures a whopping 44mm, which is substantial for most wrist sizes. The stainless steel case is totally in line with the signature Panerai aesthetics, with a cushion shape, crown lever guard on the side, and a smooth polished bezel. It is 100m water resistant.
The dial of this Panerai watch, however, comes with a few surprises. In addition to Arabic numeral and index markers, the dial carries interesting complications. A running seconds counter with an am/pm indicator is positioned at nine o'clock, while at three, we have a date aperture, and a linear power reserve indicator sits at six. A discreet arrow-tipped hand is present to facilitate the GMT function. Worth noting is how legible the dial is, with everything arranged neatly and high luminescence.
In terms of the movement, the sapphire crystal caseback features an automatic calibre P.2003 that provides a staggering ten-day power reserve.
This Panerai Luminor 1950 is in overall good condition with a small nick on the sapphire crystal glass at the front. Its red leather strap is firm and sturdy.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
