All the best elements of Panerai culminating into one stunning timepiece held by a refreshing and ergonomic ‘Bund’ strap.
Why we love it
The only other thing Panerai watches are most loved for apart from their dominating, bulky size and strength is their ability to flaunt distinguishing looks despite employing a recognisable and heavily-repeated design language. Similar is the case with this Panerai Luminor California 8 Days DLC PAM00779. Released in 2018, this watch is a clever culmination of several iconic Panerai signatures that create a surprisingly stunning mien.
This 44mm Luminor is more wrist-friendly than the other large-sized Panerai watches, with a case that is rendered in lightweight titanium. Further, a layer of DLC coating is widespread to give a rugged and almost non-luxurious appeal, necessary to impart a utilitarian and military look. The profile is classic Luminor — cushion-shaped with the signature liver bridge crown.
The maison’s quest to create an ergonomic piece continues on the California dial — a unique dial design by the house where hour markers are a combination of Roman and Arabic numerals. Such a design enhances legibility, and was found in some of the earliest models created by Panerai for military purposes. It’s a clean time-only dial with distinctive thermally blue hands. It goes without saying that both the markers and hands are coated with SuperLuminova. Inside the watch is the in-house calibre P.5000 that offers a staggering eight-day power reserve.
The only novel element added to this Luminor is the stunning Bund strap. It hammers home the model’s military inspiration quite effectively while giving the timepiece a look of practical luxury.
While the case promises a very good condition with no scratches, the leather strap of this Panerai Luminor California 8 Days DLC PAM00779 shows a satisfactory form.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
