Using one of its finest watches, Panerai delivers a fitting tribute to India's most beloved cricket icon - Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Why we love it
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, carries a beautiful legacy of excellence and values that distinguishes him as an icon of the cricket world. It's this celebrated lineage that made Panerai choose him as their Indian brand ambassador in 2018, and subsequently, in 2020, the maison released special timepieces dedicated to this living legend. This limited edition Luminor GMT is a smart and sporty piece blending Panerai's signature elements with subtle references to the renowned cricketer.
The 44mm case of the watch is cast in stainless steel. It combines the recognisable cushion shape design with the crown guard and a polished bezel that looks dressy against the brushed surfaces of the case. With a clean and streamlined look, the most highlighting element of the case is certainly the caseback. It incorporates a minimalist outline of him and the Indian peninsula accompanied by his signature. An inscription stating Mahendra Singh Dhoni 183 graces the contours of the caseback, marking his highest score of 183 runs in a one-day international against Sri Lanka.
The dial on this limited-edition Luminor GMT is a classic green after one of the colours on the Indian flag; it is also Dhoni's favourite colour. The shade of green used here is understated and versatile, creating an overall pleasing look. The sandwich-style construction ensures high legibility while the GMT hand, date window, and small-seconds counter strengthen practical functionality.
Panerai powers this limited edition watch with P.9010/GMT calibre. It's an automatic movement whose twin spring barrels guarantee a power reserve of three days.
This Panerai Luminor GMT Mahendra Singh Dhoni Limited Edition PAM01056 comes in overall very good condition. Please note its leather strap shows signs of use.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
