This Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF with its ethereal moon phase complication is a treat to the eye.
Why we love it
In 2021, Parmigiani Fleurier celebrated its 25th anniversary. This milestone was commemorated with the launch of an intricate pocket watch. Additionally, the year was significant for the brand as it unveiled a new visual identity under the leadership of its new CEO, Guido Terreni as well as the now-popular Tonda PF. The introduction of the Tonda PF collection represented a distinctive interpretation of the luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet.
The luxury sports category is certainly hot but a tad bit saturated with everyone looking to enter with yet another rendition of essentially the same thing. However, Parmiagiani does it differently. This watch is distinguished by a unique personality that combines traditional Parmigiani Fleurier elements such as the tear-drop lugs and knurled bezel with modern features like the seamlessly integrated bracelet. The annual calendar rendition comes in a 42mm case with a slim profile of 11.1mm.
The warm grey dial features a finely crafted grain d’orge guilloché pattern, with the brand's new oval PF logo at 12 o’clock. The layout is well-balanced, clear, and easy to read. The retrograde date is indicated by a crescent moon-tipped hand at the edge of the dial. The day of the week, month, and phases of the moon are displayed at nine, three, and six o'clock respectively. The aventurine creates a starry night backdrop, with cut-outs on the dial for tracking lunar phases in both hemispheres. The small faceted indexes and skeleton delta-shaped hands add a touch of elegance to the timepiece.
The transparent caseback provides a clear view of the in-house automatic calibre PF339. This movement is an upgraded version of the PF331, featuring an added module for the Retrograde Annual Calendar and an accurate moon phase complication. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it boasts a power reserve of 50 hours from dual barrels. The moon phase mechanism is designed to require adjustment only once every 122 years, provided it remains in continuous operation.
This Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Annual Calendar PFC907-2020001-200182 has minuscule marks on the crystal, bezel, and case. The caseback, clasp, and bracelet have nicks too.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
