A classic timepiece with an integrated bracelet and a textured dial, here in steel with details that spotlights maison's unparalleled craftsmanship.
Why we love it
Parmigiani gave its distinctive take on the integrated sport watch design trope with the Tonda GT, first released in 2020. With a striking textured dial and an integrated bracelet, the brand promised a timepiece that plays with established design codes and yet delivers a unique aesthetic, a watch we took the fancy of instantly.
The case is timeless with recognisable teardrop lugs and a bezel, which is knurled towards the outer ring and smooth on the inner. The bracelet carries a satin finish with alternate brushed surfaces. The sapphire crystal on the dial side is domed, whereas the rear has an exhibition caseback flaunting the calibre PF044 with a striking skeletonised 18k gold rotor and a power reserve of 45 hours.
The silvered dial is decorated with a triangular hobnail guilloche pattern in the centre featuring a double date aperture below 12 o'clock, the brand signature at three, and a small second sub-dial at six. An outer sector that houses index hour markers is tastefully ribbed with a smooth minute track surrounding it.
With a proportionate 42mm size and a bracelet that settles effortlessly on the wrist, this Tonda GT is a watch that exudes perfection from all angles. It certainly serves as a contemporary alternative to the icons that have dominated this genre for decades. A modern choice for modern collectors.
Purchased in 2023, this Parmigiani Tonda GT PFC910-0000141-B00182 shows a few noticeable scratches on the case and caseback. The bracelet and clasp also bear some scuffs.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
