The first watch created by the founder — Michel Parmigiani, Toric brings an unconventional and supremely elegant spin to the world of dress watches with its extraordinary design paired with high complications. An icon in its own right, the house leaves no room for creativity and mechanical daring when it comes to Toric. And the same has been beautifully manifested in this Toric Hemispheres Retrograde.
At 42.8mm, this Toric reference PFC493-0001400-XA144 is a notable timepiece on the wrist crafted from stainless steel into a smooth round shape. The polished finish that adorns the surface of the case is subtly contrasted by the knurling on the stepped bezel.

On the black dial, we are welcomed by a bevvy of functionalities, arranged so neatly that it enhances the overall legibility. In addition to the conventional hour and minute function indicated here by javelin-shaped luminous hands, the dial brings a second time zone complication at 12 o’clock in a sub-dial, next to which is a day/night indicator. At six o’clock is a running seconds sub-dial integrated with a day/night indicator for the local time. Lastly, Arabic numerals for the date sit at the periphery of the dial and are indicated by a small crescent-tipped hand.
Worth noting are the two knurled crowns on the right that allow accurate time reading down to the minute for both time zones. This has been facilitated by the powerful automatic calibre PF317. It comes equipped with two series-coupled barrels, promising 50 hours of power reserve. Beautiful Côtes-de-Genève decorations adorn the movement, assembled with 316 components and a 22k gold rotor.
