Rolex Cosmograph Daytona gains a utilitarian character with this version that brings an ergonomic combination of gold case and Oysterflex bracelet.
Why we love it
Cosmograph Daytona is one of the most iconic chronograph watches typified by elegant construction, distinct dial design, and powerful mechanism; however, the version for Baselworld 2017 was perhaps Rolex's best iteration of the watch yet.
The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116518 made quite a splash upon its release as the brand upped the ante with a more utilitarian version, bringing a tempting alternative to the leather strap and steel bracelet models. It was the combination of gold, Cerachrom, and Oysterflex that elevated Daytona into another echelon. Oysterflex is an engineered material featuring flexible metal blades accoutred with high-performance and resilient elastomer. On the inside, the bracelet is fashioned with cushions to ensure smooth, comfortable wear. Such a combination- a gold case and an ergonomic Oysterflex bracelet - repositioned Daytona as a classic sport watch that delivers functionality and form.
The case is 40mm, and with the contrasting tachymeter bezel, it gains real depth. A similar contrast is conspicuous on the dial, which creates a wonderful harmony with the contrasting sub-dials and luminous markers. The dial also features a central sweep seconds hand that allows an accurate reading of up to 1/8th second. Inside the screw-down caseback, you'll find the Rolex calibre 4130. A self-winding movement, the calibre is a superlative chronometer with a 72-hour power reserve.
Besides some minor nicks on the caseback and clasp, this Rolex Cosmograph Daytona M116518LN-CHMBLK shows excellent condition. Its rubber bracelet is robust and well-maintained.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
