Some timepieces are destined to be treasured for a lifetime, and this Datejust with a classic look and aesthetics confidently manifests this emotion.
Why we love it
Introduced in 2008, this reference 116234 injects a soupcon of modernity into the line without forgoing the elements that make Datejust 'a classic watch of reference'. It comes in a 36mm Oystersteel case that creates a pleasing presence on varied wrist sizes. It stays true to the original design with the inclusion of a white gold fluted bezel as well as a screw-down crown and caseback that aid the timepiece's water resistance capabilities. The dial gives a subtle facelift through a blue background and diamond hour markers. The coronet logo and date aperture are still visible at their conventional positions.
Regarding the mechanism, this Datejust 116234 uses the Rolex automatic calibre 3135. It powered most Rolex timepieces, including the Submariner and Yacht-Master, before the new calibre 3235 was introduced. Beating at 28,800bph with a 48-hour power reserve, this movement includes all classic features of a Rolex calibre and hence is a certified chronometer ensuring unfaltering reliability and precision.

Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
