As a benchmark of style and precision, the Rolex Datejust continues to lead in classic watch design.
Why we love it
The Rolex Datejust, introduced in 1945, stands as a hallmark of watchmaking excellence and innovation. Launched to celebrate Rolex's 40th anniversary, it quickly became a symbol of precision and style, setting a new standard for wristwatches. The Datejust was revolutionary for its time, incorporating the world’s first self-changing date function. This mechanism, which automatically advances the date at midnight, was a significant technological advancement. The feature has since become a hallmark of wristwatches, but at its inception, it was a novel innovation.
The design of the Datejust has evolved over the decades, yet it remains true to its classic roots. This watch features a 41mm Oyster case, known for its robustness and waterproof capabilities with a sundust-coloured dial, created through precise brushing techniques. This produces subtle light reflections, enhancing its visual appeal. This method involves grooves that radiate from the centre of the dial, adding depth and texture.
The bracelet options, including the Jubilee, reflect Rolex's dedication to both form and function was designed specifically for the Datejust in 1945, and offers exceptional comfort with its five-piece link construction.
This Rolex Datejust 126331 has scratches on the case and caseback. It also has scuffs on the bracelet and clasp.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
