Defined by a minimalist, monotone look, this Rolex Datejust – that brings plenty of novel elements on display – is synonymous with refinement and style.
Why we love it
Datejust is one of the most elegant and iconic collections by Rolex. The collection is filled with aesthetically pleasing timepieces and is Rolex’s ultimate prototype of a dress watch. This reference 16234, originally introduced in the 1980s, is an understated timepiece with a monotone look. This reference is special in more ways than one. Not only was it one of the first five-digit references of the Datejust line, but it was also one of the first references to use a sapphire crystal and to have the jumping date feature where the date gets changed instantly at midnight.
This Ref. 16234 features a muted silver dial with a radiant finish. The slim, polished hands are mildly faceted, akin to the Roman numeral hour markers. The date window sits at its characteristic 3 o'clock position. Within the 36mm steel case beats an automatic calibre 3135. This widely-used calibre within the Datejust family provides a power reserve of 48 hours.
The Jubilee bracelet and the fluted white gold bezel give this Datejust an instantly recognisable Rolex look. It’s a classy, everyday timepiece and a tasteful finishing touch that effortlessly holds any ensemble or look together.
This Rolex Datejust 16234 is in very good, pre-owned condition with minor scratches.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
