Throughout this Datejust II, Rolex asserts a deliberate elegance that is both confident and understated, inspired by the discerning patrons who wear it.
Why we love it
Designed to exude timeless sophistication and unceasing charm, Datejust stands at the vanguard of Rolex’s storied catalogue. Over the years, this ‘classic watch of reference’ has gone through a throng of iterations, all the while retaining (and amplifying) its elegant appeal, just like this Datejust II 116300.
Now discontinued, this Rolex Datejust II 116300 wears like a statement dress watch on the wrist, complete with additional finesse introduced by the smooth bezel. Compared to more compact sizes within the Datejust collection, this reference measures a notable 41mm, creating a dominant presence on the wrist, aided by the case's hefty, stainless steel construction. While the appearance of this Datejust is delicate, it has plenty of strong functional attributes like 100 metres of water resistance and a screw-down crown. The case is held by the recognisable Oyster bracelet, also in steel, ensuring an overall balanced look.
On the blue dial, high legibility is achieved through lume-filled, Roman numeral hour markers, slim hands, petite minute markers on the outer rim, and the signature date window at the three o’clock position shielded by a Cyclops lens. The Rolex coronet at 12 o’clock is followed by neatly-positioned hallmarks. Rolex’s COSC-certified chronometer automatic calibre 3136 resides inside the case to provide a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.
This Rolex Datejust 116300 is in excellent condition despite the scratches on the bezel and bracelet. The clasp and case have nicks as well.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
