Rolex honours James Cameron's journey to the world's deepest-known limit with its gradient D-Blue dial mimicking the bright blue top and stark black bottom of the ocean.
Why we love it
This Rolex Deepsea 136660, at the time from the Sea-Dweller collection and now flying solo, is an exercise in pushing diver watch capabilities to their maximum limit. Its robust design with a very close submarine-like case construction delivers a staggering 3900 metres of water resistance along with signature Rolex elegance and sophistication.
The D-Blue dial is designed in honour of James Cameron and his record-breaking feat of reaching the deepest limit on the earth - the bottom of the Mariana Trench - in a solo dive. The colour palette echoes the shades of the ocean - a deep blue on the top and a pitch black at the bottom. Housed within a 44mm stainless steel case, it nails a purpose-driven look with luminous hands and markers and a date window at three. Other bells and whistles that benefit the cause of functionality are the unidirectional Cerachrom bezel and the helium escape valve, sitting opposite the screw-down crown.
Inside, the COSC Superlative Chronometer calibre 3235 provides unfaltering accuracy with 70-hour running autonomy.
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
