Unapologetically luxurious and dipped in unrestrained elegance, this Rolex Lady-Datejust is a very beautiful timepiece with plenty to love.
Why we love it
An unbeatable horological icon since 1945, Rolex Datejust needs no introduction. It is touted as the most elegant dress watch ever. Among its countless versions, Lady-Datejust has evolved to be the most popular and top-selling. Rolex Lady-Datejust came down the spike in 1957 as a delicate 26mm timepiece and was revamped into its modern-day powerful form in 2015 with the 28mm model. Reference 279381 is an unapologetically luxurious watch and a visual spectacle on the wrist.
It is hewn from Oyster steel and Rolex's signature Everose gold and designed to be water-resistant to 100 metres. The gold bezel features brilliantly set diamonds all over, creating a vista that's hard to tear away from. But the bezel only plays a prologue to the beauty one encounters on the dial. Sparkling in green, the dial carries a lush sunburst finish, providing the perfect backdrop for the diamond hour markers. At three o'clock, we are greeted by the characteristic date aperture. Overall, the case and the dial work in harmony through their textures and depth to add a romantic flair to the wrist.
Powering this beauty is the perpetual calibre 2236, which has been powering Lady-Datejust 28mm since 2015. It's a high-precision, COSC-certified automatic movement with a Syloxi hairspring rendered in silicon and the signature Paraflex shock absorbers. Such mechanical ingenuity is an impressive expression of Rolex's savoire faire, ensuring that even a timepiece extremely sought after for its looks still provides equally astounding watchmaking flair.
This Rolex Lady-Datejust 279381RBR, purchased in 2022, maintains a mint condition.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
