This TAG Heuer Carrera Tourbillon is the kind of watch that’s definitely going to incite a lot of “What”, “Really”, and “Can’t be” reactions. The ultimate conversation starter!
Why we love it
Much like Hublot, Jean-Claude Biver — the big guy of horology — brought his madcap genius to TAG Heuer in 2015 when he helmed the brand as the CEO. Subsequently, in less than a year, TAG Heuer created one of the world’s most affordable tourbillon watches — the Carrera Tourbillon. This 2016-released watch is the perfect testament to Biver’s virtuosity — where he managed to bring one of watchmaking’s most exclusive complications in an unbelievably humble price range.
But is it as good as others? This TAG Heuer Carrera Tourbillon CAR5A8Y.FT6072 houses an in-house calibre Heuer-02T. It comes integrated with a flying tourbillon, operating at 28,800bph, which is as much as any other Swiss tourbillon. But it is also automatic, which is rather atypical for tourbillon movements. It facilitates functions like the time, date, and chronograph, where the chronograph complication is based on a column-wheel module. In addition to providing a whopping 65 hours of power reserve, TAG ensured questions like “Is it any good?” are put to rest with a COSC certification for its movement.
But to be honest, one doesn’t really need too many justifications to like this Carrera Tourbillon. It is love at first instant. Its clean and understated titanium construction, the tasteful choice of strap for that sporty undertone, and the skeletonised dial seal the deal for many. We admit the watch is big at 45mm, but when you have such a beautiful composition on the dial, you hardly mind the size. Everything is luminous — hands and markers, the tourbillon escapement sits conspicuously at six o’clock, and the chronograph sub-dials are placed horizontally.
This pre-owned TAG Heuer Carrera Tourbillon CAR5A8Y.FT6072 comes in very good condition with no scratches or signs of use. The leather and rubber strap is quite firm and well-maintained.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
