Adorn your wrist with this ingenious UR-120 Space Black and be enthralled by how beautifully the satellites split, creating the iconic Vulcan salute. What more can we say but live long and prosper, UR-120!
Why we love it
Urwerk is one of those off-the-wall watch brands that have been broadening the limits of horology with each new creation. In 2022, it launched, according to us, its most ambitious and ground-breaking timepiece, the UR-120. With a cool steampunk wit, UR-120 is a lesson on materialising esoteric ideas into forms that make jaws drop.
UR-120 is certainly going to make every Star Trek fan jump a kid in a candy store. It nods to the iconic Vulcan hand salute in the most amazing way. Get this — Urwerk’s ingenious wandering satellites split into two during the course of their journey around the dial into a distinct V-shape, mimicking Spock’s Vulcan salute. What a feat!
This reference Space Black is the first iteration of UR-120 with a similar asymmetric case, rendered in DLC-coated stainless steel with a titanium caseback. Subtle refinements make the appearance of this watch more streamlined and contemporary. The bezel on this reference strikes a clean look, devoid of the exposed screws we had in UR-110. A fine sandblasted finish and a dark grey hue blankets the case, which measures a notable 47mm.
On the reverse side, horizontal grooves create an edgy aesthetic, while the sapphire crystal aperture leaks the view of the self-winding mechanical movement UR-20.01 that offers 48 hours of power reserve. One would think such a complex mechanism would be bulky and heavy. Even if that were the case here, Urwerk has ensured the heft doesn’t translate to the wrist. With modified articulating lugs and the strap in fabric and leather, this UR-120 settles most comfortably on the wrist.
This Urwerk UR-Satellite UR-120 Space Black is a 2023-purchased watch in very good condition, featuring no scratches and a well-maintained strap.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
