A Heritage of British and Swiss Watchmaking

The origin of the exquisite, Swiss-made Graham watches dates back to the times of George Graham, a scientist, and eminent English watchmaker, reverently known as the ‘father of the chronograph.’ While George Graham made several breakthrough inventions in watchmaking, his most prominent creation remains the chronograph, the greatest source of inspiration for Graham watches.

The renowned watchmaker created the brand name in 1695 in London. However, after 100 illustrious years of expert watchmaking, the brand faded for quite a long time. It was not until 1995 that a group of passionate British and Swiss matchmakers revived the legacy of George Graham under the name ‘Les Monts S.A.’ To recollect the legacy of the British watchmakers George Graham and John Arnold, the new founders, Eric Loth, Pierre-André Finazzi, and Ernst Thomke, launched the first collection of ‘Graham’ and ‘Arnold & Son’ in 1998.

The company was renamed ‘The British Masters S.A.’ in 2001 after William Asprey joined as chairman, investor, and British distributor. Subsequently, the company re-launched Graham and Arnold & Son, the two prominent British brands. However, the firm sold Arnold & Son to the esteemed Swiss movement manufacturer La Joux-Perret in 2010, retaining only the brand Graham and rechristening it Graham London. The brand is currently owned by two families with manufacturing facilities located in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

Designs Rooted in British and Swiss Values

Remaining faithful to the brand’s namesake and founder, all Graham watches feature chronographs. Each automotive-inspired timepiece embodies a statement of courage and independence while radiating a presence that makes the wearer an instant head-turner. Graham timepieces are modelled on the quintessential British racing fashion with the crown on the left side of the face. Large cases, oversized pushers, and big movements are trademarks of a Graham watch with bodywork crafted from hardy and resistant materials like steel, sapphire crystal, and carbon fibre.

Signature Collections

One of the company’s most popular creations to date is the signature Chronofighter watch collection. The timepieces are characterised by a left-sided lever conveniently placed onto a case made of steel or carbon. The Vintage and Superlight series belong to this collection. While the Vintage timepieces sport a stylish retro aesthetic with quirky dial designs, the Superlight models with sporty bands in lively colours are inspired by racing watches and are more in sync with an adventurous and active lifestyle.

The innovative spirit of Graham watches extends to its two other popular lines - the Swordfish and the Fortress. Named after the elusive underwater predator, the Swordfish collection deviates from the usual Graham convention in having chunky push-pieces located on the right side of the metallic case. Besides, the colourful dials and magnified sapphire crystal glass lend the Swordfish timepieces a bold and unmistakable look. The Fortress wristwatch is equally enticing, a chronograph adorned with a mono-pusher set within the crown. As a result, the watch flaunts a crisp and uncluttered profile while being elegant in its own right. The now-discontinued Geo.Graham collection showcased the highest level of refinement and innovation, proving that the company can also produce extremely fascinating novelty timepieces.

Partnerships with Champions

Graham’s partnerships with champions from the racing world testify to the brand’s loyalty to automotive-inspired watch designs. The brand has been the Official Timing Partner of the Isle of Man TT from 2014 to 2016. Other notable partnerships include the 2012 Stanley Cup champions, Los Angeles Kings (NHL, USA), and sponsoring the World Champion F1 team BrawnGP. Besides, Graham watches have adorned the wrists of well-known celebrities and sports personalities such as Tom Cruise, Brian Johnson, Jay Kay, Christian Stucki, and Stephen Curry, to name a few.

Defending the values of creativity and independence, Graham continues to deliver timepieces embodying British and Swiss watchmaking expertise. Every mechanical watch is distinctive and is no less than a cherished artwork on the wrist.
