H. Moser & Cie Watches - How It Began
H. Moser & Cie was the brainchild of Heinrich Moser, who was a Swiss entrepreneur, in the 18th century. Moser came from a long line of watchmakers and learned the art of watchmaking quite early on. Subsequently, he shifted to Saint Petersburg of Russia, and founded his company, H. Moser & Cie, in 1828. His company became a well-known luxury brand with notable clients like Vladimir Lenin, members of the Russian Imperial Court, and even Russian princes. The watches produced during Moser’s lifetime not only featured simple designs but also showcased intricate and innovative design feats. Following the death of Heinrich Moser in 1874, his company was sold and thus, began a new chapter for H. Moser & Cie.
Years later, in 1953, H. Moser & Cie started operating in Le Locle of Switzerland. This was when the brand shifted its focus from pocket watches to wristwatches. The quartz crisis of the 1970s, which significantly affected the Swiss watchmaking industry, also affected H. Moser & Cie, resulting in the company becoming a part of the Dixi Mechanique Group. Fortunately, in 2002, with the founding of Moser Schaffhausen AG, which acquired H. Moser & Cie, the brand had a moment of homecoming. This is because the founders of Moser Schaffhausen AG were Dr. Jurgen Lange and Roger Nicholas Balsiger, who is Heinrich Moser’s great-grandson. Three years later, H. Moser & Cie was re-introduced to the world, reflecting the same spirit with which it was built.
H. Moser & Cie Watches - A Sustainable and Independent Model
Known for being one of the few family-owned brands completely in charge of its own production, H. Moser & Cie pays considerable attention to ensuring every little component of its watches display nothing but perfection. From the designs to the mechanical movements, the watchmakers at H. Moser & Cie can be credited with creating some truly timeless timepieces.
Being in charge of their own production, in recent years, H. Moser & Cie has developed some notable components for their luxury watches. For instance, in 2007, the brand released the ‘Straumann Hairspring’, made from a special type of alloy named Nivarox - an anti-corrosive metal, used for the hairsprings to reduce any negative effects of time recording in the watch.
Two years later, the brand introduced their next big creation, the ‘Henry’, to the world. ‘Henry’ was a tonneau-shaped watch bearing Straumann Double Hairsprings.
While H. Moser & Cie ensures they come up with the finest creations, they are also committed to doing so, responsibly. The company is a big supporter of procuring its raw materials sustainably, and hence, is a part of the Responsible Jewellery Council. This special Council oversees the ethical and socially responsible collection of raw materials. H. Moser & Cie constantly update their set standards and practices to make sure their processes remain as environmentally-friendly as possible.
H. Moser & Cie- Watches For All
Annually since 2016, H. Moser & Cie has revealed a special watch at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. Some of the special models released at this program were the Swiss Alps Watch Zzzz, the Swiss Icons Watch, and Moser Nature Watch. All these watches were unveiled to raise awareness about watches of different types.
All in all, the brand has four flagship collections; Heritage, Streamliner, Endeavour, and Pioneer. The Heritage collection is known for being the perfect fusion between the past and the present. Coming to the Streamliner, this collection makes use of stainless steel to create sleek designs. The Endeavor collection features round watches with modern and sleek styles, whereas Pioneer watches are robust sports watches best suited for every adventure.
