Stylish, equipped with a flyback chronograph and the celebratory El Primero movement, this Zenith Defy Rainbow ticks all the boxes for a reliable, luxury sports watch.
Why we love it
The Zenith Defy Rainbow 03.0527.4000/21.R642 is an extremely well-made, sporty watch fitted with a splendid black dial. The stainless steel case is 46.5mm in diameter and quite hefty with 17.5mm thickness. But it is equally comfortable and wearable thanks to Zenith’s craftsmanship and functionality that is on offer. From the superbly-decorated unidirectional bezel to the rainbow effect on the dial, there is no chance of missing this watch when worn on the wrist. A telemeter scale outlines the dial that carries Arabic numeral hour markers, a date aperture and a red seconds hand with the Zenith star logo counterweight. We also find a coloured 30-minute counter at three, running seconds at nine, and a 12-hour subdial at six o’clock. Despite being heavy on complications, the dial remains legible.
The El Primero calibre 4000 FC is visible through the sapphire crystal case back. It is assembled with 326 components and 31 jewels and beats at a 5Hz frequency. In addition to a power reserve of 55 hours, this high-performance movement facilitates the flyback chronograph mechanism, which allows you to directly restart the chronograph with a single push without following the conventional stop, reset, and restart procedure.
What you should know
This Zenith watch is in excellent condition, with minor scratches on the case back and clasp. The rubber strap is in very good shape.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
